Plot: Thanks to a Ponzi scheme, a Wall Street businessman (Alan Alda) swindles tenants in a high-rise out of a heap of cash, so the building manager (Stiller) enlists a thief (Murphy) to help him steal it back.

Gift: It’s an early Christmas present for the “Occupy Wall Street” types.

Regift: Not counting voicing a donkey in the Shrek films, Murphy hasn’t had a big hit at the box office since 1996’s The Nutty Professor.

Gift: Harris playing an insane version of himself is always a hoot.

Gift: Writer-director Montiel has a penchant for stories of gritty street life — he also did The Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

Regift: Even with Pacino and Ray Liotta chewing up scenery, the movie reportedly bombed at Sundance earlier this year.
