D.N.Angel (ディー・エヌ・エンジェル) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yukiru Sugisaki. The ongoing manga premiered in Japan in the Kadokawa Shoten shōjo magazine Monthly Asuka in November 1997. The series went on an extended hiatus after the August 2005 issue, returning in the April 2008 issue. Kadokawa Shoten has collected the individual chapters and published them in 15 tankōbon volumes so far. The manga series is licensed for English language release in North America and the United Kingdom by Tokyopop, which has released 13 volumes of the series as of December 2009.

Dentsu and Xebec adapted the manga into a 26-episode anime series which aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from April 3, 2003 until September 25, 2003. The anime was later adapted into second two volume manga series, a PlayStation 2 video game, and a series of drama CDs.

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue (光と水のダフネ)

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue (光と水のダフネ, Hikari to Mizu no Dafune) is a 2004 anime series animated by the studio J.C.Staff and produced by GENCO. It was licensed by Geneon USA in 2004. However, Geneon USA had ceased operations in September 2007 and lost all their titles. In 2009, Sentai Filmworks had picked up the license and re-released the series in two complete collection sets.

A manga version was drawn by manga artist and character designer Satoshi Shiki titled "I - Daphne in the Brilliant Blue" (アイ〜光と水のダフネ〜, Ai ~Hikari to Mizu no Dafune~), featured in Young King OURs magazine.

Aki Sora (あきそら, lit. Autumn Sky) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masahiro Itosugi. It was first published in September 2008 by Akita Shoten. It started serialisation in the ninth volume of Akita Shoten's shōnen manga magazine Champion Red Ichigo. An OVA adaption was released with the third volume of the manga on December 17, 2009. An new OVA adaptation, called Aki Sora ~Yume no Naka~ (あきそら～夢の中～) is planned on October 6, 2010.

Synopsis

Ever since he was a young child Sora Aoi had always exchanged words of "I love you" with his older sister Aki. Now, as he comes of age, he finds it much harder to exchange such comforts as they did in those simpler times. When Aki demonstrates her feelings toward him to go beyond a sisters love Sora finds himself questioning his feelings for his sister. Realizing their affection for one another they consummate their love in secret. In a society that would never understand, they must now keep their love a secret from their family and everyone they know.

Summary

"Closet otaku and school idol 16 year old Aiba Hina announces right at the start that she is going to quit being an otaku, but apparently she was going to stop being otaku because a manga character said he hates otaku. Fujoshi power max!

She tries to sell all her most precious otaku collections at I-books at Radio Kaikan 3F, but ends up getting seen by a classmate who was working there part-time at the register.

Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka (あかね色に染まる坂, lit. The Hill Dyed Rose Madder), also known in short as Akasaka, is a Japanese adult visual novel developed by Feng and first released for the PC as a DVD on July 27, 2007. Air Gear (エア・ギア, Ea Gia) is a shōnen manga by the mangaka Ito "Oh Great" Ōgure. Air Gear is about the life of Itsuki Minami "Ikki", also known as "Baby face" and "Lil (and Little) Crow", and his friends. The story follows their use of Air Trecks, an in-universe invention derived from inline skates. The early parts of the story carry out the introduction of characters that eventually join Ikki. As the story progresses, it focuses on their roles as Storm Riders and their quest to be on the top of the Trophaeum Tower. It won the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.

Dragon Ball (ドラゴンボール, Doragon Bōru) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995; later the 519 individual chapters were published into 42 tankōbon volumes by Shueisha. Dragon Ball was inspired by the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West. It follows the adventures of the protagonist Goku from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven mystical orbs known as the Dragon Balls, which can summon a wish-granting dragon when gathered. Along his journey, Goku makes several friends and battles a wide variety of villains, many of whom also seek the Dragon Balls for their own desires.

The 42 tankōbon have been adapted into two anime series produced by Toei Animation: Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, which together were broadcast in Japan from 1986 to 1996. Additionally, Toei has developed seventeen animated feature films and three television specials, as well as an anime sequel titled Dragon Ball GT, which takes place after the events of the manga. From 2009 to 2011, Toei broadcast a revised, faster-paced version of Dragon Ball Z under the name of Dragon Ball Kai, in which most of the original version's footage not featured in the manga was removed. Several companies have developed various types of merchandising such as a collectible trading card game, and a large number of video games.

The manga series was licensed for an English-language release in North America by Viz Media, in the United Kingdom by Gollancz Manga, Australia and New Zealand by Chuang Yi and Malay-language release in Malaysia by Comics House. The entire anime series has been licensed by Funimation Entertainment for an English-language release in the United States, although the series has not always been dubbed by the same studio. In China, a live-action film adaptation was produced in 1989. In 2002, 20th Century Fox acquired the rights to produce an American-made live-action film that received a negative reception from critics and fans; the movie was released on April 10, 2009 in the United States.

Since its release, Dragon Ball has become one of the most successful manga and anime series of all time. The manga's 42 volumes have sold over 152 million copies in Japan and more than 200 million copies worldwide. Reviewers have praised the art, characterization, and humor of the story. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest manga series ever made, with many manga artists such as Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto), Eiichiro Oda (One Piece), Tite Kubo (Bleach), Makoto Raiku (Zatch Bell), Yoshio Sawai (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo), and Hiro Mashima (Rave Master) citing Dragon Ball as a source of inspiration for their own now popular works. The anime, particularly Dragon Ball Z, is also highly popular in various countries and was arguably one of the most influential in greatly boosting the popularity of Japanese animation in Western culture.

Ai Yori Aoshi (藍より青し) is a Japanese seinen manga written and illustrated by Kou Fumizuki, originally serialized in 1998 in Hakusensha's Young Animal. The anime is a love story between two characters who haven't seen each other in years and who once were childhood friends.

Ai Yori Aoshi was directed by Masami Shimoda and animated by J.C.Staff. The series was made into an anime in 2002, and was completed in 2003 when its second season Ai Yori Aoshi: Enishi (藍より青し ～縁～), ended. Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi takes place two years after episode one of Ai Yori Aoshi and has the characters older. In all there are 37 episodes, this includes a special Christmas episode found in Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi. The anime was released in North America by Geneon, and the manga was released in English by Tokyopop. Four visual novels were also released for the PlayStation 2, and for Windows 98.

Title

The title is taken from a quote from the Chinese philosopher Xun Zi: "Indigo comes from blue, and is yet greater than blue" (Kanji: 青は藍より出でて藍より青し, Rōmaji: Ao wa ai yori idete ai yori aoshi, simplified Chinese: 青出于蓝而胜于蓝; traditional Chinese: 青出於藍而勝於藍; pinyin: Qīng chū yú lán ér shèng yú lán). The phrase is used in both Chinese, Korean and Japanese to mean that, although people are molded by their teacher, they surpass that teacher through their own efforts. The name of the main character, Aoi (葵), is pronounced the same way as a ao(i), a version of ao "blue". Aoi states that Enishi are the bonds that tie people to one another.

The series is sometimes referred to as a halfway point between a harem anime and a magical girlfriend story. It is also referred to as "Japanese Love Hina" (和製 ラブ ひな, Wasei Rabu Hina) as the story is similar to Love Hina.
